The B3 Biturbo’s 3.0-litre inline-six features two Alpina mono-scroll turbochargers, a tuned Alpina-specific ECU which unleashes more power, and an uprated exhaust system. It is also equipped with a rear-biased limited-slip Sport Differential rear axle.
There is a difference of 14,000 euros between the two power stations, the BMW M3 Touring costs more than 174,000 euros, the Alpina B3 Touring as tested here comes to 160,525 euros. The M3 is a playstation pure sang, intended to make life difficult for RS4 drivers and Mercedes-AMG C63 Estate drivers. The Alpina B3 Touring owner does not get hot

Image: BMW. Speaking of which, the 3,3-litre M30B32 engine was sourced from a 733i while Alpina parts were thrown in for improved performance. This includes a gearbox, rear axle and brakes but the lightweight coupe could manage 145 kW and 5 500 r/min and 285 N.m at 4 300 r/min. BMW’s official performance claims are 0–100 km/h in 7,4 seconds, and a top speed of 228 km/h.
